How to get rid of lint build up?

I have a Kenmore washing machine with plastic (common) outer tub. It comes to something stinky fierce. When we had to replace a water pump, I discovered why. There is an accumulation of lint between the two tubs and sour lint. It was something easy washer clean separation, but not an easy task when you are together. I would like to know if anyone has a cleaning method of prevention and hopefully future of this accumulation of lint. If you take a part on a regular basis is out of the question. There is no lint in the washer. When he was also looking for one. My husband is a professional junking old equipment. So he should know. FYI-I can use liquid detergent and fabric softener

To clean the machine, put 1 cup of vinegar once a month and run through a normal cycle, don, t have any clothes in it at the time, to prevent lint from sticking to clothes, place a cup 1 / 2 in each load, try the well.
